Is a Roadshow the Right Choice for Your Business?

Posted on: Wednesday, 12 February 2020)

Roadshows are no new thing to the industry, but they can seem like a huge and somewhat intimidating undertaking. Whilst there is a lot of work that is required to go into organising a roadshow, done right, it can be a very powerful marketing tool.

There are many reasons to organise a roadshow. It is an ideal format for improving brand awareness and spreading the message of your company. This is because you are taking the product or service to your audience directly, you are in control of how they are interacting whilst at the same time, showing commitment to them and inspiring loyalty in return.

Alongside this is memorability. Hosting a roadshow, and doing it well, will make you stand out in a way that your competitors won’t. The more fun and engaging you make your presentations, the more memorable you will become. Roadshows are a great way to generate enquiries and build your contacts. Making it memorable is more likely to result in these evolving into tangible leads.

Roadshow Considerations

When considering whether a roadshow is the right choice for your company there are a few factors to take into account.

Budget/Resources

Possibly the most important factor to consider is your budget and available resources. Do you have the time, money and manpower needed to put on an event like this? Over stretching on these things will not only mean the roadshow could fail but could also cost you financially. Of course, there are ways to get around this, such as using and outside company along with meticulous planning to stick within a pre decided budget.

Target Audience

Who is your target audience, are they likely to be interested in attending an event and is it large enough to make it worthwhile? All these points need to be considered when deciding if a roadshow is right for you.

Location/Time

Finding the right location for your roadshow is extremely important. You need to keep in mind who your audience is and find a venue that suits them. People won’t want to travel too far, so somewhere central would be best. Additionally, local conditions, such as weather and traditions need to be considered.
Similarly, choosing the best time is also important. You need to ensure your roadshow dates don’t clash with other events in the area or industry.

Goal

Finally, what is your goal? If you decided a roadshow is the right choice for your business you must have a specific goal, or outcome, in mind. What is it you want to achieve - more enquires, increasing your network or even a boost in sales? Whatever your goal, you need to keep this in mind throughout the entire process, otherwise you may end up wasting a lot of valuable time.
